It shall be unlawful for the operator of a bicycle when upon
the street or sidewalk of the Borough of Kane to carry any other person
upon the handle bars, frame or fender of any such bicycle, unless
such bicycle is so constructed for carrying more than one person or
for any person to so ride upon any such bicycle.
It shall be unlawful for any operator of a bicycle
to cling to any other moving vehicle.
It shall be unlawful to operate any bicycle
in the Borough of Kane without being equipped with a brake or brakes
in good working order.
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate
a bicycle upon any street or sidewalk of the Borough of Kane between
one hour after sunset and one hour before sunrise without a headlight
visible from the front thereof for not less than 300 feet, which light
shall be firmly attached to the bicycle and properly lighted; nor
without a reflex mirror or lamp on the rear, exhibiting or reflecting
a red light visible under like conditions for a distance of at least
200 feet to the rear of such bicycle. Said light shall always be kept
clean and visible.
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate
a bicycle upon any street or sidewalk in such a manner as to interfere
with any pedestrian thereon.
A.
No bicycle
shall be ridden upon an uptown sidewalk. "Uptown" has been defined
as the area containing that portion of the Borough of Kane bound by
Fraley Street from Greeves Street to Poplar Street. Operation of bicycles
is permitted on sidewalks outside of the uptown area.
B.
It shall
be unlawful for the operator of a bicycle to violate any traffic rules
or ordinances of the Borough of Kane that are applicable to motor
vehicles.
It shall be unlawful for the operator of a bicycle
upon any street or sidewalk of the Borough of Kane to propel the same
abreast or to the left of any other person so propelling a bicycle,
except in passing such other bicycle.
The word "streets" as used in this chapter shall
include public highways, boulevards and alleys.
Any person, firm or corporation violating any
of the provisions of this chapter, or any rules or regulations pursuant
thereto, shall upon conviction before a District Justice, be sentenced
to a fine not to exceed $300, and costs, or to imprisonment for a
term not to exceed 30 days.
