[Amended 7-24-1991 by Ord. No. 316]
There is hereby established a building and structure numbering system
for certain existing properties within the Borough of Economy, County of Beaver
and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The system shall be generated and maintained
by the Planning Commission of the Borough of Economy in conjunction with Borough
Council and shall be documented in written resolution form.
Within 90 days after notification by the Borough, the owners or occupants
of each building and structure within the Borough of Economy shall conspicuously
post the street number of such building or structure at some location on the
premises on which the building or structure is located so that the number
is clearly visible from a street which provides public access to such premises.
Any area that is not numbered according to the system referred to above
shall be numbered as said area is developed.
Buildings and structures that are not visible from a public roadway
shall be conspicuously numbered on the mailbox at the public roadway.
[Amended 2-10-1987 by Ord. No. 274]
The Borough Council or any officer or employee of the Borough designated
thereby for the purpose is hereby authorized to give written notice, by personal
service or by United States Mail, to the owner or occupant, as the case may
be, of any premises whereupon the street number at the premises is not posted
in violation of the provisions of this chapter, directing and requiring such
owner or occupant to post a street number so as to conform to the requirements
of thin chapter, within 15 days after issuance of such notice. In case any
owner, owners or occupants shall neglect, fail or refuse to comply with such
notice within the period of time stated herein, the Borough authorities may
post a street number on the premises and collect the cost thereof, together
with any additional penalty authorized by law, from such owner, owners or
occupant in the manner provided by law.
[Amended 2-10-1987 by Ord. No. 274]
Any owner, owners or occupants who shall violate or fail, neglect or
refuse to comply with any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction
thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $300 and, in default
of payment of such fine, to imprisonment for a term not to exceed 90 days,
provided that each day's violation shall constitute a separate offense;
and notice to the offender shall not be necessary in order to constitute an
offense.
