[Adopted 7-23-1969 as Ch. 14, Art. II, of the 1969 Code]
Pursuant to provisions of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, Title 40, Chapter 55, Sections 1.1 to 1.21,[1] both inclusive, a Planning Board to be known as the "Planning Board of the Borough of Eatontown," and the same is hereby created and established.

The members constituting the Planning Board shall consist of the following classes, to wit:
A. 
Class I - The Mayor ex officio.
B. 
Class II - An official of the municipality to be appointed by the Mayor.
C. 
Class III - A member of the Borough Council to be appointed by the Council.
D. 
Class IV - Six citizens of the Borough of Eatontown to be appointed by the Mayor.
All members of the Planning Board shall serve as such without compensation.
The terms of the members composing Class I and Class II shall correspond to their respective official tenure. The term of the member composing Class III shall terminate with the term of the Mayor appointing him. The term of one of the members of Class IV, first appointed, shall expire at the end of each year beginning at the end of the first year. The term of each member of Class IV thereafter appointed shall be for six years.
The Planning Board shall elect a Chairman from the members of Class IV and create and fill such other offices as it may determine. It may employ experts and a staff and pay for such services and such other expenses as may be necessary and proper, not exceeding in all, exclusive of gifts, the amount appropriated by the governing body for its use.
The Planning Board shall have all powers conferred upon it under the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40:55-1 to 40:55-21,[1] both inclusive, and amendments and supplements thereto. In addition thereto, the Planning Board is hereby authorized to review subdivisions and to recommend final approval to the governing body, in accordance with New Jersey Revised Statutes, by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Eatontown a Land Subdivision Ordinance, pursuant to the provisions of the statute. Such revision of subdivisions and recommendation of final approval shall be made in keeping with the ordinance providing for the reference of any other matter or class of matters to the Planning Board before final approval thereof by any municipal public body or municipal official having final authority over such matter.
