It shall be the duty of every owner of a building occupied as a hotel,
a factory, a theater, an opera house, a music hall or other places of amusement,
assembly hall, church, hospital, literary or charitable institution more than
two stories in height, to erect suitable fire escapes connected with all stories
above the second story, to afford easy and convenient access to the ground
on the outside of the building in question, and constructed in the manner
prescribed by the Building Code of the Village.[1]
A.
Any person, persons or corporation who shall fail to
comply with the provisions of this chapter shall be subject to a penalty of
$50. Any violation of this chapter or any part thereof shall constitute disorderly
conduct, and the person violating this chapter or any part thereof shall be
and is hereby declared to be a disorderly person.
B.
A failure to comply with the provisions of this chapter
within 20 days after any conviction therefor shall be deemed a new and separate
offense for which such person, persons or corporations shall become liable
anew to each and all of the penalties herein prescribed.
