The purpose of this chapter is to authorize certain public servants of the Village of Webster to issue and serve appearance tickets in connection with violations of state statutes, local laws, ordinances or rules and regulations of the Village which said public servants are authorized or required to enforce.

The Building Inspector(s), Deputy Building Inspector(s), Assistant Building Inspector(s), Zoning Officer(s), Deputy Local Law Enforcement Officer(s), Code Enforcement Officer(s), Webster police officers, Fire Marshal(s) and Deputy Fire Marshal(s) are hereby authorized to issue and serve appearance tickets, as defined by § 150.10 of the Criminal Procedure Law, with respect to violations of a state statute, a local law, ordinance, rule or regulation of the Village of Webster that such public servants are required or authorized to enforce. Specific areas of enforcement are fire prevention and building construction, dogs and other animals, solid waste reuse and recycling, Chapter 175, Zoning, and all other zoning or planning regulations relating to the health, safety or welfare of the occupants of any building or of persons subject to the use of property within the Village. Appearance tickets shall be made returnable before the Town Justice of the Town of Webster.

The above listing of public servants is intended to and does include those positions presently in existence and, additionally, such said designated positions as may subsequently be created by the Village Board of the Village of Webster.

An appearance ticket shall be served personally, except for an appearance ticket issued for a traffic infraction related to parking, as provided in § 150.40 of the Criminal Procedure Law.
