No person shall bury a dead horse or other dead
carcass of cattle, sheep, hog or dog in any of the public streets
and alleys of the City nor in any of the open or vacant grounds except
at a distance of 200 yards from the residence or dwelling of any person.
All dead carcasses of animals which shall be buried within the City
shall be placed sufficiently deep in the ground and well covered with
at least four feet of earth in depth from the surface of the ground
to the upper part of the carcass.
No person shall cast, throw or deposit any dead
horse or other dead carcass of cattle, sheep, swine or dog or excrement
or filth from vaults or privies nor leave such carcass, carrion or
filth without burying the same not less than four feet below the surface
of the ground on any part of the commons within the City or on or
near any of the streets, lanes or alleys within the City.
Whoever violates §§
96-18 and
96-19 shall be fined not less than $50 and not more than $300 and the costs of prosecution for the first offense and not less than $200 nor more than $1,000 and the costs of prosecution for all succeeding offenses, to be recovered as other fines and forfeitures are recoverable.
