A.
Purpose. This section contains a joint, uniform and identical ordinance by the municipalities surrounding the thoroughfare from Minocqua Lake to the entrance and outlet of Mid Lake in the Towns of Minocqua and Woodruff and continuing in the thoroughfare to the ending of the thoroughfare at the entrance and outlet to Lake Tomahawk, specifically at a point 100 feet south of Stolp Island, also known as "Maru Island," located in S24, T39, R6, PT. GL., 1 IS. in SW cor. The purpose of this section is to regulate the use and operation of boats and other watercraft on the thoroughfare in the interest of public health and safety pursuant to § 30.77(3), Wis. Stats.
B.
Definitions. Definitions used in Ch. 30, Wis. Stats., are hereby adopted.
C.
Setback requirements for boat wakes. No person shall operate a motorboat on the waters of Mid Lake within the Town of Woodruff, Oneida County, in a manner to enhance an elevated wake for over 50 feet in length closer than 700 feet from any shoreline, dock, pier, raft or other restricted area(s). An elevated wake is a trail of disturbed water left by the passage of a watercraft in excess of 24 inches. Such prohibited operation shall apply to wake enhancement watercraft by the use of ballast mechanical hydrofoil(s), uneven loading or operation at transition speed. "Transition speed" means the speed at which the boat is operating at greater than slow-no-wake speed, but not fast enough so the boat is planing.

D.
Special events. There shall be no organized water events, special events or contests without the express permission of the Town Boards of Minocqua and Woodruff.

Violations.

The owner or occupant of any boat or other watercraft in the thoroughfare as specifically described in Subsection A above shall not operate such boat, motorboat or other watercraft in excess of slow-no-wake speed. "Slow-no-wake" as defined in this section means the slowest possible speed so as to maintain steerage.
F.
Enforcement. The provisions of this section shall be enforced by the Minocqua and Woodruff Boat Patrols and officers of the Minocqua, Woodruff and Lake Tomahawk Police Departments.
