As used in this chapter, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
INTEREST
A direct or indirect pecuniary or material benefit accruing
to a Village employee as the result of a contract with the Village.
For the purposes of this chapter, a Village employee shall be deemed
to have an interest in the contract of:
A. His or her spouse, minor children and dependents,
except a contract of employment with the Village of Hewlett Neck.
B. A firm, partnership or association of which such Village
employee is a member or employee.
C. A corporation of which such Village employee is an
officer, director or employee.
D. A corporation, any stock of which is owned or controlled
directly or indirectly by such Village employee.
No officer or employee of the Incorporated Village
of Hewlett Neck, whether paid or unpaid, shall:
A. Be or become interested directly or indirectly in
any manner whatsoever, except by operation of law, in any business
or professional dealings with the Incorporated Village of Hewlett
Neck or any agency thereof.
B. Act as attorney, agent, broker, representative or
employee in business or professional dealings with the Incorporated
Village of Hewlett Neck or any agency thereof for any person, firm
or corporation, directly or indirectly, in any manner whatever.
C. Accept other employment or engage in any business
transactions or make any investments, directly or indirectly, which
create a conflict with his official duties.
Notwithstanding the provisions hereinbefore set forth, any person serving the Incorporated Village of Hewlett Neck, or any agency thereof, without compensation, shall not be deemed in violation of §
14-2 above by reason of financial, professional or business interests unless such interests are in conflict with the proper discharge of his or her official duties.

No officer or employee of the Incorporated Village
of Hewlett Neck, whether paid or unpaid, shall solicit any gift having
a value of $75 or more, whether in the form of money, service, loan,
travel, entertainment, hospitality, thing or promise or any other
form under circumstances in which it could reasonably be inferred
that the gift was intended to influence him or her or could reasonably
be expected to influence him or her in the performance of official
duties or was intended as a reward for any official action on his
or her part.
A copy of every disclosure required under §
14-5 above, including a copy of any transcript of such disclosure, shall be promptly transmitted by the board, agency, officer or employee receiving such disclosure, to the Village Clerk, who shall file and maintain the same as a public record.
No officer or employee of the Incorporated Village
of Hewlett Neck, whether paid or unpaid, shall disclose confidential
information concerning the property, government or affairs of the
incorporated Village or any other confidential information of an official
character, except when permitted or required by law, nor shall he
or she use such information to advance the financial or other private
interests of himself, herself or others.
No person who has served as an officer or employee
of the Incorporated Village of Hewlett Neck shall, within a period
of two years after the termination of such service or employment,
appear before any board or agency of the Incorporated Village of Hewlett
Neck or receive compensation for any services rendered on behalf of
any person, firm, corporation or association in relation to any case,
proceeding or application with respect to which such person was directly
concerned or in which he or she personally participated during the
period of his or her service or employment or which was under his
or her active consideration.
A violation of any of the provisions of this
chapter shall constitute cause for forfeiture of pay, suspension or
removal from office or employment in the form and manner as provided
by law. Nothing in this section shall limit any other penalties which
may be provided by law.
