A. DANCE DANCE HALL
Definitions. The following definitions shall be applicable in this section:
A public dance is any dance to which the public generally without restriction may gain admission with or without payment of a fee.
A public dance hall is any place at which a public dance is held.

License fee. The license fee shall be as set by the Village Board.

Exemptions. No license shall be required for dances conducted under the supervision and control of a public or parochial school or college, church, parent-teacher association, fraternal or social organization conducted on a nonprofit basis for its guests, or for any benevolent or fraternal organization operating a dance for benevolent or charitable purposes. At least five teachers or parents shall be present to supervise dances given by a parent-teacher association.
D.
Investigation of premises. The Village Clerk-Treasurer shall refer all applications for dance or dance hall licenses to the Chief of Police and the Building Inspector, who shall inspect the premises proposed to be licensed to see that such premises comply with all Village ordinances and state laws and health regulations. Such officers shall report in writing to the Village Clerk-Treasurer their recommendations as to issuance of the license.

Sanitation and lighting. All public dance halls shall be kept at all times in a clean, healthy and sanitary condition, and all stairways and other passages, and all rooms connected with a dance hall, shall be kept open and well lighted.
F.
Stopping dances. The Chief of Police, or any law enforcement officer or other person of competent authority, shall cause the place, hall or room where any dance or ball is held to be vacated whenever any law of the Village or state with regard to public dances and public halls is being violated or whenever any indecent act shall be committed or when any disorder of a gross, violent or vulgar character shall take place.
G.
Law to be obeyed. The owner of every hall, room or other space rented or used for public dances, as well as the person or association giving the dance, shall see that the provisions of this section and all other laws and regulations relating to public dances and public dance halls are complied with.
H.
Duties of floor manager. Any person conducting a public dance or renting a public dance hall shall have a person in control of the premises continuously from a half hour before dancing begins until the dance hall is closed. The floor manager shall see that decency and good taste are maintained and that disorderly or objectionable conduct is not tolerated and shall take efficient steps promptly to remove objectionable persons and stop objectionable practices.
I.
Closing hours. All public dances shall be discontinued and all public dance halls closed on or before 2:00 a.m., except on January 1 when the hour shall be 3:00 a.m.
