City Marriage Officer. Pursuant to § 11-c(1) of the New
York Domestic Relations Law, the City Council may appoint one or more
marriage officers who shall have the authority to solemnize a marriage,
which marriage shall be valid if performed in accordance with other
provisions of law. Such marriage officers shall be appointed by resolution
of the City Council. Such marriage officers will not receive a salary
or wage for his or her services. However, for each marriage at which
he or she officiates, the City shall be paid, by or on behalf of the
persons married, a marriage solemnization fee in the amount of $50,
which fee shall be collected by the City Clerk.
