All topsoil shall be removed from the site of
all excavations and shall be stored for use in finished grading.
The contractor shall clear, reduce to disposable
size and dispose of all vegetation and objectionable debris, including
boulders, which occur above ground within the construction area so
as to enable room for construction.
Grubbing shall consist of the removal and disposal
of all perishable materials or debris below or partly below the surface
of the ground, including stumps, roots, logs, boulders and other organic
material, to a depth of 12 inches.
Trees, roots, stumps and other vegetation to
be cleared and grubbed shall be removed from the site. No organic
materials that are cleared and grubbed from the site shall be used
in backfills. Boulders that are to be cleared from the site are to
be placed neatly at the site of construction or buried.
All trees and shrubs not within the limits of
construction shall be protected from damage. When necessary, trees
shall be trimmed to avoid removal. The contractor shall be responsible
for all damage to trees outside the limits of his work.
All holes or depressions within the limits of
construction as specified that result from clearing and grubbing operations
shall be refilled with suitable earth fill. All stripped and stored
topsoil shall be respread over the excavated area unless paving is
to be done in the area.
