This chapter is enacted pursuant to the authority of Article 9-A of
the General Municipal Law of the State of New York and shall be known as the
"Local Law No. 2-1995, Games of Chance Local Law of the Town of Clarkson."
The purpose of this chapter is to authorize the conducting of games
of chance within the Town of Clarkson.

The words and terms used in this chapter shall have the
same meaning as such words and terms are used in Article 9-A of the General
Municipal Law, unless otherwise provided herein or the context requires a
different meaning:

TOWN
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have
the meanings indicated:
The Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the County of Monroe in accordance
with the option set forth in Subdivision 2 of § 194 of Article 9-A
of the General Municipal Law of the State of New York.
The Town of Clarkson.
Games of chance may be conducted in the town by an authorized organization,
after obtaining a license therefore, in accordance with the provisions, requirements
and limitations of Article 9-A of the General Municipal Law, the rules and
regulations of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board and this chapter.
The conduct of games of chance on Sundays is authorized except as otherwise
provided in Article 9-A of the General Municipal Law.
This chapter shall take effect immediately after proper posting and
publication as provided in the Town Law and in the event that, at a referendum
held for the purpose of approving this chapter pursuant to the provisions
of law, a majority of the qualified electors of the Town of Clarkson voting
at said referendum shall approve the same by voting for the proposition.[1]

A special town election for the purpose of voting for the approval or
defeat of this chapter shall be held on the date and at the times and places
designated by the Town Board.
