A water emergency shall exist in any part of the township when declared by resolution of the Township Committee or proclamation of the Mayor.
Use by any person during a water emergency for the following purposes is hereby prohibited:
A. 
Watering yards. Sprinkling, watering or irrigation.
B. 
Washing mobile equipment. Washing of automobiles, trucks, trailers or any other type of mobile equipment.
C. 
Cleaning outdoor surfaces. Washing of sidewalks, walkways, driveways, porches and other outdoor surfaces.
D. 
Cleaning buildings. The washing of the outside of buildings; the washing of the outside and inside of office buildings.
E. 
Cleaning equipment and machinery. The washing and cleaning of any business or industrial equipment or machinery.
F. 
Ornamental fountains. The operation of any ornamental fountain or other structure making a similar use of water.
G. 
Filling of any swimming pool and wading pool.
All reasonable attempts shall be made to notify citizens and residents of the township of the existence of a water emergency, the restrictions imposed and the penalties for violations.
Every police officer of the Township of Readington shall, in connection with all duties imposed by law, diligently enforce the provisions of this article.
Any person who violates the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine not exceeding $1,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days and/or a period of community service not exceeding 90 days.
