[HISTORY: Adopted by the Township Committee of the Township of Westampton 10-28-1982 by Ord. No. 17-1982. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Township Committee hereby establishes the Department of Public Works. The Township Committee shall appoint, by resolution, individuals to positions in the Department of Public Works to serve in a full- or part-time capacity as determined by the Township Committee by way of the resolution of appointment for the purpose of fulfilling the responsibilities of the Department of Public Works as set forth herein. There shall also be a Director of the Department of Public Works, who shall be responsible for the functioning of the Department as hereinafter set forth and who shall be appointed by the Township Committee by way of resolution. All members of the Department and the Director shall serve at the pleasure of the Township Committee.
A. 
Department. The Department of Public Works shall be responsible for the following items:
(1) 
The repair, operation and maintenance of all public buildings, grounds, streets, storm sewers and other public facilities.
(2) 
The cutting of brush and weeds, the mowing of grass and the removal of snow and debris from public places.
(3) 
The cleaning of public ditches and the care of all other public works and property in the Township of Westampton.
(4) 
The maintenance and repair of municipal vehicles and equipment.
B. 
Director. The Director shall have the following responsibilities:
(1) 
Establish and maintain an adequate inventory of equipment and vehicles and parts and the control thereof necessary for the maintenance and repair of all public buildings, equipment and works.
(2) 
Keep accurate records and books of accounts of the Department, including the preparation of daily reports of the work of the Department.
(3) 
Submit to the Township Committee a monthly report of all work performed and services furnished and the costs thereof.
(4) 
Recommend the need for repairs and replacement to township equipment, structures, buildings and grounds.
(5) 
Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Township Committee.
The township may, by resolution, establish suitable rules and regulations necessary for the proper regulation of the Department of Public Works, said regulations to be adopted by way of resolution and to be kept on file in the office of the Township Clerk.
