The following words or phrases shall have the following meanings when used in this article:
HOUSEHOLD ANIMALS
Animals kept as pets that reside within the residence and are customary to residential districts.
NONHOUSEHOLD ANIMALS
Ponies, horses, cows, sheep, swine, poultry or other farm livestock, exotic or wild animals.
Raising or keeping of a nonhousehold animal on any single-family property in the R1 Zone is permitted if said property has a minimum size of two acres. An additional 1/2 acre of land is required for each additional nonhousehold animal. Additional regulations for other size properties are as set forth hereinafter. Poultry farms must have a minimum of 50 acres of property to operate. Commercial piggeries are prohibited.

Agricultural exception. The raising or keeping of nonhousehold animals is permitted on any undeveloped property actively used for agriculture at the time of the adoption of the within ordinance under the following circumstances:
A. 
The property that is actively used for agriculture at the time of the adoption of the within regulation must be at least two acres in size.
B. 
A property which is two acres in size and actively used for agricultural purposes may contain one nonhousehold animal, and an additional 1/2 acre of land is required for each additional nonhousehold animal.
C. 
Existing and established horse or cattle farms are not subject to the acreage requirements set forth in this article.
D. 
Current owners of animals not conforming to this article are exempt from these provisions for only the animals currently on their property.
E. 
Poultry farms shall not be permitted on less than 50 acres of land.
F. 
Commercial piggeries are prohibited.
G. 
The keeping of chickens on residentially zoned property is prohibited except as set forth in Chapter 88, Article V, Chickens.
