In accordance with Sections 25-84 to 25-94, inclusive, as amended, of
the Connecticut General Statutes, the Town Council of the Town of North Branford
is hereby designated and shall serve as necessary from time to time as the
Flood and Erosion Control Board of the Town of North Branford.
The Flood and Erosion Control Board shall have authority, within the
limits of appropriations from time to time made by the town, to plan, lay
out, acquire, construct, reconstruct, repair, maintain, supervise and manage
a flood or erosion control system and all such other powers or duties now
or hereafter conferred upon Flood and Erosion Control Boards by Chapter 477,
Part II, of the Connecticut General Statutes.

As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
FLOOD OR EROSION CONTROL SYSTEM
Any dike, berm, dam, piping, groin, jetty, seawall, embankment, revetment,
tide-gate, water storage area, ditch, drain or other structure or facility
useful in preventing or ameliorating damage from floods or erosion, whether
caused by fresh or salt water, or any dam forming a lake or pond that benefits
abutting properties, and shall include any easements, rights-of-way and riparian
rights which may be required in furtherance of such system.
The Town Manager and the Town Engineer shall serve as a permanent committee
of the Flood and Erosion Control Board. The duties of the Town Manager and
Town Engineer shall be to advise and assist the Board in any activities in
which the Board might engage and to carry out such other duties assigned or
delegated to them by the Board.
The Flood and Erosion Control Board or its agents may enter upon and
take and hold by purchase, condemnation or otherwise the whole or any part
of any real property or interest therein which it determines is necessary
or desirable for use in connection with any flood or erosion control system.
The Flood or Erosion Control Board or its agents may, at all reasonable
times and upon written notice, enter all premises connected with a flood or
erosion control system either to examine said premises for purposes of construction
or to examine or inspect an established flood or erosion control system.
