There is hereby established a Public Celebrations
Committee for the Town of Wallingford pursuant to the authority of
Section 7-148 of the Connecticut General Statutes.
The Public Celebrations Committee shall consist
of up to 21 members appointed by the Town Council. The number of members
of the Public Celebrations Committee shall hereafter be determined
by resolution of the Town Council. The Mayor shall be a member, ex
officio.
Each member shall serve without compensation
for a term of two years commencing on the first day of February of
the year of his or her appointment. Members may continue in office
until a successor has been appointed.
The Public Celebrations Committee may organize
itself from its membership by the selection of a Chairman and such
officers as may be necessary to perform its function. It may prescribe
the duties of such officers and may adopt bylaws or other procedures
for the conduct of its meetings.
The Public Celebrations Committee may arrange
for and supervise such municipal celebrations and public celebrations
as it shall determine to be appropriate. In the performance of its
functions, the Public Celebrations Committee may expend only such
sums of money as shall have been appropriated in any annual or special
appropriation. Upon request, it shall submit a report of its doings
to the Town Council.
