There is hereby created the position of Recreation Coordinator for the Borough of Barnegat Light.
The Recreation Coordinator shall be appointed by the Borough Council and shall serve at the pleasure of and for such period of time as determined to be appropriate by the Mayor and Council. However, under no circumstances shall the term of office exceed one year.
The Recreation Coordinator shall serve under the direction of the Council person in charge of recreation. The Recreation Coordinator shall be responsible for coordinating the planning, promotion, development and supervision of community-wide programs of recreational activities for various age groups in the Borough. The Recreation Coordinator shall serve as a liaison between the Borough and the Recreation Committee for celebration of public events. The person holding this position shall attend all special events in the municipality. The person in this position shall coordinate a calendar with all organizations and coordinate any recreational programs that the Borough may initiate. The Recreation Coordinator shall plan, initiate, organize and supervise recreational activities in the entire community. The Coordinator shall supervise, train, evaluate and advise assigned recreation personnel. The holder of this position shall recommend, demonstrate and apply techniques, procedures and materials, equipment and supplies for use in special activities and assist in the publication of the recreational programs to the general public through the use of press releases and other related techniques involving news media, as well as the participation in public and organization meetings.
The Recreation Coordinator shall have considerable knowledge in the methods and problems involved in planning, promotion and supervising a recreation program. The Recreation Coordinator must have the ability to organize, develop and coordinate a recreation program. The Recreation Coordinator must also have the ability to give suitable assignments and instructions to subordinates and supervise their work, as well as the ability to enlist the interests of concerned people and encourage their participation in the organized program and to establish and maintain helpful and cooperative relationships with associates and the public.
The salary for the Recreation Coordinator shall be determined, from time to time, by the Mayor and Borough Council and shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of the Salary Ordinance of the Borough of Barnegat Light.[1]
