Borough of Bergenfield, NJ Article II Recycling of Leaves

§ 266-9 Definitions.

As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:

LEAVES

Those materials naturally formed from trees and bushes that are suitable for composting and mulching purposes.

PERSONS

All owners, whether individual, corporate or otherwise, of residential, commercial or institutional properties.

§ 266-10 Leaves to be separated from solid waste during certain months.

Beginning September 1 to December 31 of each year, it shall be mandatory for all persons to separate leaves from all solid waste by depositing said material at the curbside for collection in accordance with the rules and regulations promulgated by the governing body.

§ 266-11 Leaves not to be placed in bags or containers.

Leaves shall not be placed in any bags or containers of any kind.

§ 266-12 Enforcement.

The Superintendent of the Department of Public Works of the Borough of Bergenfield or his designee is hereby appointed enforcement officer for the purposes of this article.

§ 266-13 Violations and penalties.

Any person violating this article or any of the rules and regulations promulgated hereunder shall be liable or subject to a fine not to exceed $1,000 or a jail term not to exceed 90 days or be ordered to perform a period of community service not to exceed 90 days.
