This chapter shall be known as the "Administrative
Organization Ordinance (1975)" and is herein referred to as the "Administrative
Code." This chapter is adopted pursuant to Mayor-Council Plan B of
the Optional Municipal Charter Law, as amended and supplemented.
The purpose of this chapter is to establish departments; allocate the Township's functions, powers and duties among and within the departments; establish official relationships; and prescribe standards and procedures for the conduct of the public business, all as permitted or required by the Optional Municipal Charter Law (Laws of 1950, Chapter 210, as amended, N.J.S.A. 40:69A-1 et seq.).
The Township of Bridgewater shall be governed
by an elected Council, an elected Mayor and by such other officers
and employees as may be duly appointed pursuant to law.

Definitions. For the purposes of this chapter, except
as otherwise required by the context, the following terms shall have
the following meanings:
The Business Administrator duly appointed pursuant to the
Charter and Administrative Code, or any Assistant or Acting Administrator
serving in place of the Business Administrator pursuant to the Charter
or ordinance.
Mayor-Council Plan B of Chapter 210 of the New Jersey Laws of 1950, as amended and supplemented, and any and all statutory provisions of the State of New Jersey as may be lawfully applicable to the Township.

The Municipal Clerk duly appointed pursuant to the Charter
or ordinance.

The local legislative body of the Township, constituted and
elected pursuant to the Charter.

An organizational unit of the Township government established
or designated by or pursuant to the Administrative Code as a department,
and any agency or instrumentality of the Township government not allocated
or assigned within such an organizational unit.
The administrative head of a department.
A calendar month unless otherwise specifically provided.
Any act of local legislation heretofore or hereafter adopted,
so long as it remains in force and effect pursuant to law.
Any corporation, firm, partnership, association, organization
or other entity, as well as an individual.
The Township of Bridgewater, in the County of Somerset and
State of New Jersey.
A calendar year unless otherwise specifically provided.
B.
Word usage. "He" and "she" and the masculine and feminine
genders where utilized herein shall be construed to mean and shall
be applicable to the other gender as well, as the case may be, and
the neuter shall be applicable to both.
