The purpose of this Article is to change the term of office of the Town Supervisor from two to four years pursuant to the enabling authority of § 10 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.
The term of office of any Town Supervisor elected after the effective date of this Article shall be four years.
This Article shall become effective upon approval by a majority of the qualified electors of the Town of Boston voting at the next general election.[1]

It is the express purpose and intent of this Article to alter the provisions of the Town Law on the Town of Boston, specifically §§ 24 and 24-a thereof, which relate to the terms of office of the Supervisor of the Town of Boston and which further relate to the method for effecting any modification thereof.
