Pursuant to Section 11 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act, N.J.S.A. 52:27D-202, the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code shall be enforced locally in the Township of Pittsgrove by the Township of Pittsgrove through an agency hereby created and known as the "Pittsgrove Township Department of Fire Prevention."

The Pittsgrove Township Department of Fire Prevention shall enforce the Uniform Fire Safety Act and the codes and regulations adopted under it in all buildings, structures and premises within the established boundaries of Pittsgrove Township, other than owner-occupied one- and two-family dwellings, and shall faithfully comply with the requirements of the Uniform Fire Safety Act and the Uniform Fire Code.

A. 
The Pittsgrove Township Department of Fire Prevention established by § 45-1 of this article shall carry out the periodic inspections of life-hazard uses required by the Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.
B. 
The Pittsgrove Township Department of Fire Prevention established by § 45-1 of this article shall carry out the periodic inspections of non-life-hazard uses required by the Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.

The Pittsgrove Township Department of Fire Prevention established by § 45-1 of this article shall be managed, administered and under the control and supervision of the Fire Official, who shall report to the Township Administrator.

The Township Committee shall utilize the Fire Safety Commission as an advisory body to make recommendations and furnish advice concerning enforcement of the Uniform Fire Safety Act in the Township of Pittsgrove. The Fire Safety Commission shall be comprised of a member of the Board of Fire Commissioners of each of the three fire districts within the Township of Pittsgrove, namely Fire District No. 1, Norma; Fire District No. 2, Willow Grove; and Fire District No. 3, Centerton, which members shall be elected by a majority of the membership of the respective boards.

A. 
Appointment of Fire Official. The Fire Official referred to in § 45-4 shall be appointed by the Pittsgrove Township Committee.
B. 
Appointment of inspectors and employees. Such inspectors and other employees as may be necessary for the operation of the Pittsgrove Bureau of Fire Safety shall be appointed by the Pittsgrove Township Committee. Such inspectors and other employees shall be under the supervision and control of the Fire Official.
C. 
Term of office. The Fire Official shall serve for a term of three years. Any vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired term by the Pittsgrove Township Committee.
D. 
Removal from office. The Fire Official, inspectors and other employees of the Pittsgrove Township Department of Fire Prevention shall be subject to removal for inefficiency or misconduct by the Pittsgrove Township Committee. The Fire Official, inspector or other employee so removed shall in every case be afforded an opportunity to be heard by the Pittsgrove Township Committee.

Pursuant to Sections 15 and 17 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act,[1] any person aggrieved by an order of the Pittsgrove Township Department of Fire Prevention shall have the right to appeal to the Construction Board of Appeals of the County of Salem in the State of New Jersey.

A. 
An annual charge as indicated in Chapter A120, Fees, shall be made for an initial inspection of a non-life-hazard use, and a charge as indicated in Chapter A120. Fees, shall be made for each reinspection of a non-life-hazard use. The inspection frequency of non-life-hazard uses shall be on an annual basis.
B. 
In addition to the inspection and fees required pursuant to the Act and the regulations of the Department of Community Affairs, this article may hereafter be amended to provide for additional inspections and fees as may be required in the public interest.

The fees established for the permits under the Uniform Fire Code shall be in accordance with state fees as required by N.J.A.C. 5:70-2.9(c).[1]
