It shall be unlawful to operate any type of unlicensed motor vehicle
or conveyance, including but not necessarily limited to snowmobiles; two-wheel
motor vehicles known as "mini-bicycles," "trail bicycles," "motor scooters"
or "motorcycles"; dune buggies; and go-carts under the following circumstances:
A. On the private property of another without express permission
to do so by the owner or occupant of said property.
B. On any public street located within the Township of Pohatcong.
C. On public grounds without express provision or permission
to do so by the proper public authority.
D. In a manner so as to create loud, unnecessary or unusual
noise so as to disturb or interfere with the peace and quiet of other persons
and the public.
E. In a careless, reckless or negligent manner so as to
endanger or be likely to endanger the safety of any person or the property
of any other person.

The following streets shall be subject to a four-ton weight limit, and
no vehicles weighing more than four tons, whether loaded or unloaded, shall
be permitted on such roads except for local deliveries:
This chapter shall not apply to police, fire and emergency vehicles.
This chapter shall not be applied to any recognized organization which
has applied to the Township Committee of the Township of Pohatcong for specific use privileges for specified
township-owned lands and premises for the purpose of having organized and
supervised activities conducted thereon, so long as an insurance policy is
filed with the Township Clerk of the Township of Pohatcong for which the Township
Committee of the Township of Pohatcong has given its specific approval and
by which the Township of Pohatcong shall be held harmless for any such use
of its lands and premises or any injuries or damages or causes of action arising
therefrom.
The police shall immediately confiscate the unlicensed motor-driven vehicle operated in the prohibited areas or in the prohibited manner described in §Â
274-1 of this chapter. The unlicensed motor-driven vehicle shall be returned upon payment of the fine or upon direction of the Court.
Any person who shall violate the provisions of this chapter shall be
subject to a fine of not more than $500 or shall be imprisoned in the county
jail for a period not exceeding 90 days, or both, in the discretion of the
Judge of the Municipal Court.
