[HISTORY: Adopted by the City Council of
the City of Trenton 9-7-1967 as §§ 9-19 and 20-4 of
the Revised General Ordinances. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The fees to be charged for certain services
extended and material distributed by various departments of the City
shall be as set forth in this chapter.

A. The Bureau of Vital Statistics in the Division of
Health, Department of Health and Human Services, is authorized and
directed to issue, upon request of any person interested and authorized
by law, certified copies of vital records. The vital records shall
include copies of births, marriages, civil unions, domestic partnerships,
and deaths on file in the office of the Division of Health. The fee
for the search of the vital records, when the correct year only is
supplied by the applicant and a copy is made, shall be $20. There
shall be an additional fee of $5 for each additional copy ordered
at the same time and an additional fee of $1 for each additional year
searched. Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 37:1-12 and 37:1-12.1, marriage and
civil union applications and affidavits of domestic partnerships shall
be set at $28. The City will retain $3 and shall submit to the State
Department of Human Services the remaining $25 collected for each
application.
B. As set forth in N.J.S.A. 26:8-63, there shall be no
fee charged for transcripts and permits issued to agencies of government
or in connection with any claim for public pension, for military or
naval enlistment, for veteran’s burial benefits or as otherwise
provided therein.
C. Other fees shall be charged as follows:
(1) Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 26:6-17, burial, removal or transmit
permit fees shall be $5.
(2) A fee of $40 will be charged to amend any birth, marriage,
civil union, domestic partnership, or death record.
(3) The fee for a legal name change will be $2, pursuant
N.J.S.A. 2A:52-4.
D. Personal
checks prohibited. All fees payable pursuant to this section shall
be paid in advance by cash, money order, certified or bank check at
the office of Vital Statistics. Personal checks are prohibited.

The fee for plotting and recording deeds shall be $25 for the
first parcel and $5 for each additional parcel included in each deed.

The Tax Assessor shall charge a fee of $35 for
a listing of immediate property owners for purposes of zoning variance
requests.

A. The Tax Collector of the City of Trenton shall charge
a fee of $7 per copy for duplicate tax bills, real and personal.
B. The Tax Collector of the City of Trenton shall charge
a fee of $25 for the preparation of each tax lien installment payment
schedule.
C. The Tax Collector of the City of Trenton shall charge
a fee of $35 for the preparation of a discharge of a lost tax sale
certificate held by the City and a fee of $50 for the preparation
of a discharge of a lost tax sale certificate held by a third party.
D. The Tax Collector of the City of Trenton shall charge
for tax searches as follows:
(1) Ten dollars for each certificate issued as set forth
in N.J.S.A. 54:5-14.
(2) Two dollars per year for continuation searches as
set forth in N.J.S.A. 54:5-15.

B. No fee shall be charged for any requested search,
information or report requested by any federal, state, county or municipal
law enforcement department or agency.
C. No fee shall be charged for an initial copy of a police
report requested by a person 65 years of age or older where the person
is the victim of the reported incident.
D. The Director of Police is hereby authorized to prescribe
rules and regulations governing the release of certain information
contained in the official files of the Department of Police pursuant
to applicable law and regulations. Unless ordered by a court of competent
jurisdiction, the Director of Police may refuse to release any such
information when, in the Director's judgment, the interests of law
enforcement and public safety so require. The Director may refuse
to release any such information deemed confidential.

A. Permit required. No one shall be authorized to use
the boat ramp or designated trailer-parking-only area without applying
for and obtaining a permit from the Department of Recreation, Natural
Resources and Culture. Applicants for a permit must provide proof
of a valid registration for the boat and trailer, if applicable. If
a trailer is to be used, a permit decal shall be assigned and affixed
to both the boat and the trailer. If a trailer will not be used, then
the permit decal will be assigned and affixed only to the boat. The
issuance or denial of a permit shall be at the City's sole discretion.
B. Date and time of permit. Permits shall entitle the
holder to use the boat ramp and designated trailer parking area and
shall be issued for the period of April 1 through November 30. The
ramp and parking area shall be closed to all boats and vehicles between
the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

C. Fees are hereby established for the use of the boat

(2) Other New Jersey residents:
A. Seasonal or daily permits for the use of the tennis
courts located at Cadwalader Park shall be issued by the Division
of Parks and Recreation for such seasons as shall be prescribed by
the Director of the Department of Health and Human Services. Permit
holders may reserve times for the use of these courts in accordance
with procedures established by the Director of the Department of Health
and Human Services. The following schedule of permit fees shall be
in effect, such permits being nontransferable.

B. Season and day permits for the use of the clay tennis
courts located at Cadwalader Park shall be required and issued annually
by the Division of Parks and Recreation for such seasons and days
as shall be prescribed by the Director of the Department of Health
and Human Services in accordance with the following schedule of fees

A. Permits for the use of playing fields in City parks
shall be required and issued by the Department of Recreation, Natural
Resources and Culture. The permit fee for groups of 20 or more adults
over 18 years of age shall be $50. Otherwise, there shall be no charge.
B. Permits for the use of City parks for picnics, weddings,
social events, concerts, religious services, parties, reunions or
other events shall be required and issued by the Department of Recreation,
Natural Resources and Culture. The permit fee shall be determined
by the number of adults in the group, as follows:

The Department of Recreation, Natural Resources
and Culture shall collect from each team entered in an adult athletic
league to be run on a City-owned court or field a sponsor fee of $250
and a forfeiture fee of $50. The forfeiture fee shall be returned
to each team which completes the league schedule having forfeited
no more than one game.
The Division of Parks and Recreation shall collect
a rental fee for the use of City-owned bleachers, floats, stages or
the Wenger Unit which is equivalent to the labor costs necessary for
the delivery, set up, supervision and dismantling of such equipment,
as certified by the Director of the Department of Public Works.

or material provided as authorized in this chapter shall be forwarded
daily to the Department of Finance, Division of Treasury. A receipt
shall be prepared in triplicate for all such money received, the original
to be given to the person requesting the service, a duplicate to be
forwarded with the money received to the Department of Finance, Division
of Treasury, and the triplicate copy to be retained by the department
issuing the receipt.

B. No fee shall be charged to an attorney or litigant
(in that case) for the first certified or exemplified copy pursuant
to N.J.S.A. 22A:2-19.
C. Fee for Municipal Public Defender. Any person applying
for representation by a Municipal Public Defender shall be required
to pay an application fee of $200; provided, however, that the Municipal
Court may waive the payment of all or a part of such fee if the court
determines, in its discretion, that the payment of such fee will impose
an unreasonable burden on the person seeking representation by the
Municipal Public Defender.

The Office of Engineering shall charge a fee of $10 for the
issuance of a letter denoting whether or not a property is within
the flood zone as delineated by the federal government.
A. Alcoholic beverage applications. The office of the
City Clerk distributes alcoholic beverage applications to holders
of licenses in the City of Trenton for which the charge will be $3
per application.
B. Meeting schedule. In compliance with the Open Public
Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et seq., any person may request that
a public body mail to him/her copies of any regular meeting schedule
or revision described in N.J.S.A. 10:4-8d of any regular, special
or rescheduled meeting of such body, and upon prepayment by such person
of the sum of $35 to cover the costs of providing such notice, the
public body shall mail to that person written advance notice of all
of its meetings within the time prescribed by N.J.S.A. 10:4-8d, subject
only to the exceptions set forth in N.J.S.A. 10:4-9. Notices sent
to the news media shall be mailed free of charge. All requests for
notices made under this section shall terminate at midnight on December
31 of each year, but shall be subject to renewal upon a new request
to the public body.
C. Copies of documents. In compliance with N.J.S.A. 47:1A-2,
Public Records, copies of records shall be made available upon the
payment of such price as shall be established by law. The custodian
of such records shall make and supply copies of such records upon
the payment of the following fees which shall be based upon the total
number of pages or parts thereof to be purchased without regard to
the number of records being copied:

(2) The deposits shall be refunded if the item is returned
in good condition within 10 days. The Division of Traffic and Transportation
shall have the sole judgment to determine whether a returned item
is in good condition.

receive benefit from the establishment of loading zones or installation

A. The City of Trenton will fix the fee for performance by the Mayor
of a wedding or civil union ceremony at $35 for residents and $45
for nonresidents.
B. All fees collected by a Mayor or designee, as authorized by statute,
for the performance of a marriage or civil union ceremony must be
deposited into the municipal current fund.
