Borough of Jefferson, PA: Stop signs; stop intersections.

Words and phrases used in this article shall have the meanings and interpretations, for purposes of this article, ascribed to them in the Vehicle Code of Pennsylvania as now in force or as hereafter amended, enacted or reenacted, except in those instances where the context clearly indicates a different meaning. The singular shall include the plural, and the masculine shall include the feminine.

§ 182-2 Multiway stop intersections.

A multiway stop intersection is hereby established for both of the following streets at their intersection:

	Stop Sign on
	South Cherry Street and East Sunset View

Every driver of a vehicle approaching a stop sign at such intersection shall stop at such stop sign at the point nearest to the intersecting street where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on that intersecting street before entering the intersection controlled by said stop sign. After having stopped, the driver shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian or to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching the intersection so closely as to constitute a hazard during the time when the driver is moving across or within the intersection or junction of said roadways.

§ 182-3 Stop signs; stop intersections.

Stop signs are hereby authorized and directed to be placed, erected and maintained at stop intersections established within the Borough of Jefferson.

The following intersections are hereby established as stop intersections and official stop signs shall be erected (or are hereby confirmed if erected heretofore) in such a position as to face traffic approaching the second-named highway upon the first-named highway, in the direction or directions hereby indicated. All vehicles and tractors approaching any such intersection upon the first-named highway, in the direction or directions hereby indicated in each case, shall come to a full stop within a reasonable distance before entering any such intersection:

§ 182-4 Violations and penalties.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this article shall, upon summary conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine in accordance with the Vehicle Code, which shall not exceed $600, plus costs of prosecution, and in default of payment thereof, to be imprisoned in the York County Prison for a period not to exceed 30 days.
