The Selectmen shall exercise a general supervision
over all matters affecting the interest or welfare of the Town which
are not otherwise provided for.
The Selectmen shall have full authority as Agents
of the Town to institute and prosecute suits in the name of the Town,
to appear and defend suits brought against it, and to appear in its
behalf in proceedings before any committed, or tribunal, unless it
is otherwise specially ordered by a vote of the Town Meeting or provided
by law. The Selectmen may settle any claim or suits against the Town,
which in their opinion cannot be defended successfully acting upon
the advice of counsel, when the amount to be paid does not exceed
twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) except in suits that directly
affect the health, welfare or safety of the citizens of the Town.
All such lawsuits shall be settled at the discretion of the Board
of Selectmen.

All conveyances under seal which may hereinafter
be executed by the Town pursuant to a vote of the Town or otherwise
shall be sealed with the Town Seal and subscribed by the Selectmen
or by a majority of the Selectmen or as designated by Selectmen to
the Town Administrator.
