No person shall burn or cause to be burned any
sulfur candle or any other material, nor shall any person release
any gas, vapor or sprays of noxious character for the purpose of fumigating
or of destroying germs, vermin, moths or other living organisms in
any building, structure, vessel or enclosed space unless he has received
a permit therefor from the Village Clerk not less than 48 hours prior
to such act of fumigation.
Upon issuing a permit for the fumigation of
any premises, the Village Clerk shall immediately notify both the
Fire Chief and the Chairman of the Board of Police Commissioners of
the Village thereof, either personally or by special delivery mail
or by messenger.
No space being fumigated shall be occupied by
human beings during the period of fumigation. It shall be the duty
of every person at whose order or under whose authority the fumigation
is being performed and to whom a permit has been issued to make careful
examination of all parts of the building, structure, vessel or enclosed
space to verify that no human beings have remained therein and to
see to the removal of household pet animals and further to see that
all necessary precautions have been taken to safeguard the lives and
health of persons who occupy adjacent premises or who may pass the
premises in which the fumigation is being performed.
