The purpose of this article is to ensure the removal of all snow/ice on town highways during snow/ice storms by prohibiting parking on town highways of motor vehicles or vehicles.
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
MOTOR VEHICLE
Every vehicle operated or driven upon a public highway which is propelled by any power other than muscular power.
TOWN HIGHWAY
The entire width between the boundary lines of every way publicly maintained by the Town of Plattekill, when any part thereof is open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular travel.
VEHICLE
Every device in, upon or by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a highway, except devices moved by human power or used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks.
No motor vehicles or vehicle may be parked on town highways during the period of time of a snow/ice storm and for 24 hours thereafter, unless otherwise posted. Failure to comply with result in the vehicle being towed at the owner's expense with the possibility of additional expenses for storage being levied against the owner.
Violation of this article will result in a fine that has been established in Title 9, Article 45, § 1800, of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of New York.
This article shall take effect upon filing with the Secretary of State.
