There is hereby created a Senior Citizens Advisory Committee consisting of 15 members, all appointed by the Mayor with consent of Council, all of whom shall be residents of the Township of at least 60 years of age and all broadly representative of the senior citizens of Ewing Township at-large.

The purpose of this Committee shall be to investigate, report on and make recommendations to the Mayor concerning problems and matters of general concern to persons over the age of 60 who reside in the Township.

Five members initially shall be appointed for a term of one year; five members shall be appointed for a term of two years; and five members initially shall be appointed for a term of three years. All subsequent terms thereafter shall be for a period of three years. Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired terms only.
The Committee shall organize at its first meeting in January, and annually thereafter, and shall at such meeting choose from among its regular members a Chairperson and such other officers as it may deem necessary.
Upon recommendation of the Senior Citizens Advisory Committee, the Mayor may, on the expiration of the term or resignation of a member, appoint that member as a member emeritus. The member must have served on the Committee for not less than six years to qualify for such appointment. Such member shall be entitled to the rights and privileges of any regular member with the exception that the member emeritus shall have no vote on any matter.
Members shall serve without compensation. Any member may be removed by the Mayor on the recommendation of the majority of the full Council after the member has been given notice and an opportunity to be heard by the Council.
There shall be a Secretary and/or Coordinator to the Committee appointed by the Mayor at a salary or wage to be determined by the Township Council. There may be appropriated in each annual budget of the Township of Ewing such sums as may be determined by the Township Council to be necessary for the proper operation of the Committee, and the Committee is authorized to use and expend such funds for the purpose stated in § 14-84 upon adoption of the annual budget.
