The purpose of this chapter is to create the position of Chief Financial Officer in compliance with requirements established by Chapter 110, Laws of New Jersey 1988, also known as the “Municipal Finance Officers Certification Bill,” being signed into law on August 22, 1988.[1]

There is hereby established by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Brooklawn the position of Chief Financial Officer, who shall be under the general supervision of the Mayor and Council and under the specific direction of the Borough Clerk.
The Chief Financial Officer shall have the responsibility for the fiscal records of the Borough of Brooklawn as well as to:
A. 
Advise and assist the Mayor and Council and the Borough Administrator with regard to developing fiscal plans and forecasts for the borough.
B. 
Provide financial assistance to all boards, commissions and departments of the borough.
C. 
Conduct continuous studies and collect data to serve as a basis for future financial recommendations.
