The owners or tenants of lands lying within the Township of Mullica
shall keep all brush, hedges and other plant life growing within 10 feet of
any roadway, or within 25 feet of said roadways, cut to a height of not more
than 2 1/2 feet where it shall be necessary and expedient for the preservation
of public safety.
The Chief of Police of said Township shall be the officer whose duty
it shall be to give notice to the owners or tenants of lands within the Township
of Mullica to cut brush or hedges to the designated height at a specific location
within 10 day of receipt of notice.
In the event the owner or tenant of land in the Township of Mullica
fails to comply with said notice, and such cutting of brush, hedges or other
plant life shall be undertaken and completed by the Township of Mullica, the
official or employee of the municipality under whose direction the work was
done shall certify costs thereof to the Township Committee which shall examine
the certificate and, if found correct, decide which course the costs, as shown
thereof are to be charged against the lands, or in the event that such costs
are in excess of the reasonable cost thereof to be charged against said lands,
the amount so charged shall forthwith become a lien upon such lands and shall
be added to said become of the taxies next to be assessed and levied against
such lands. The same shall bear interest at the same rate as other taxes and
shall be collected and enforced by the same officials in the same manner as
other taxes.
