This article shall be known as the "Local Law Amending Residency Requirement for Town Building Inspector" of the Town of Brighton.
It is the purpose and intent of this article to amend the residency requirement established under § 138 of the Town Law of the State of New York to permit a person from holding the office of Building Inspector or Deputy Building Inspector of the Town of Brighton, whether or not such person resides within the Town, if such person resides in the county in which such Town is located or an adjoining county within the State of New York.
The provisions of § 3 of the Public Officers' Law of the State of New York and § 138 of the Town Law of the State of New York requiring a person to be a resident of the Town of Brighton to serve as Building Inspector shall not prevent a person from holding the office of Building Inspector or Deputy Building Inspector of the Town of Brighton, Monroe County, State of New York, provided that such person resides in Monroe County or in an adjoining county within the State of New York.
