There is hereby created in the Village of Brightwaters
the office of Village Code Enforcement Officer.
A.
The Mayor, with the consent of the Board of Trustees,
may appoint a Commissioner of the Village Code Enforcement Officers
and set forth his duties and responsibilities, and the Mayor may appoint
as many code enforcement officers as he shall determine to be necessary
and may designate one of such code enforcement officers to be the
Chief Code Enforcement Officer of the Village.[1]

B.
The term of office of each code enforcement officer
shall be at the pleasure of the Mayor.

C.
The Mayor, with the consent of the Board of Trustees,
may appoint a Plumbing Inspector, to serve under the Chief Code Enforcement
Officer of the Village, who shall be licensed to so act by the State
of New York and whose term shall be at the pleasure of the Mayor.

All code enforcement officers shall be authorized
to issue appearance tickets for violations of Village ordinances and
local laws and for violation of the Village parking laws and for stopping,
standing and parking violations of Article 32 of the New York State
Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The Mayor is authorized to make rules and regulations
as may be required for the efficient administration of the Code Enforcement
Bureau and shall also make provision for but not limited to training,
compensation, uniforms and equipment, subject to the approval of the
Board of Trustees.
