[Added 2-13-2006]
Driving records of current employees who are
required to operate a motor vehicle as part of the regular duties
of their position will be reviewed annually. Driving records of prospective
employees who are required to operate a vehicle as part of the regular
duties of their position will be reviewed prior to hire by the Town.
If an employee’s or prospective employee's driving record exhibits
a pattern of violations which demonstrate a safety risk or contains
any item which may significantly increase the cost or jeopardizes
the Town's insurance coverage, the Town may decline to hire the prospective
employee or, in the case of a current employee, may take such disciplinary
action, including termination, as it deems appropriate under the circumstances
in order to protect the public safety and to protect the Town's ability
to procure adequate insurance coverage at a reasonable cost.
The Town shall establish and maintain a Performance
Evaluation and Review Plan applicable to all positions. Each employee
shall be evaluated in writing on a form designed to meet the objectives
of the Performance Evaluation and Review Plan. In all cases, the evaluations
will be discussed with the employee and immediate supervisor and,
if deemed necessary, with the department head and/or Town Manager.
The evaluation reports will be signed by the rater and employee and
will be made part of the employee's personnel file.
Employee performance evaluations will be conducted
at the following minimum intervals:
A. Probationary employees shall be evaluated at the end
of 90 days and 180 days of employment. The department head shall,
upon completion of these evaluations, report the employee's progress
to the Town Manager and recommend whether the employee should continue
to be employed.
B. Commencing with an employee's anniversary date, performance
evaluations shall be conducted at least annually.
