Upon application of any property owner to the Town Council for a sidewalk
to be constructed by the town along the street on which the property owner
fronts, the Council shall take under advisement the practicability of constructing
the walk, upon an agreement from the property owner to pay one-half ( 1/2)
of the construction costs of that portion of the walk which extends in front
of the property so owned by the person. If it is found practicable to construct
the walk, the town shall require of the owner a written agreement to pay his
portion of the costs, after which the work will be done under the direction
and control of the town.
A permit is required for the construction of a driveway across a sidewalk
or across that portion of the street between the curbline and the property
line. This permit is issued from the office of the Mayor only upon application
by the owner of the property who shall make his own arrangements for the construction
authorized, which shall be done in accordance with the town's specifications
and under the supervision of the Mayor.
