A. 
The City of College Park, acting through its authorized personnel, shall not discharge or discriminate against or threaten to discharge or discriminate against a City official or employee regarding compensation, terms, conditions, location or the privilege of employment with the City because:
(1) 
The City official or employee, whether acting as a complainant or on behalf of a complainant, reports or is about to report orally or in writing any alleged violation of this chapter or of Chapter 34.
(2) 
The City official or employee, whether acting as a complainant or on behalf of a complainant, participates in an investigation, hearing or inquiry held by the Ethics Commission in conjunction with a complaint filed under this chapter or Chapter 34, or any related court action.
B. 
This section shall not apply to a City official or employee who knowingly files a false complaint or makes a false statement to the Ethics Commission with respect to an alleged violation of this chapter or Chapter 34.
