No mechanically propelled vessel shall be operated on the waters of
Lake George within the hereinafter-defined restricted area at a speed exceeding
five miles per hour.

The "restricted area," as referred to in §
143-1, shall be that area of the waters of Lake George located within 1,500 feet from the entire shoreline of Lake George located within the Village of Lake George.
The violation of any of the provisions of this article shall constitute
an offense punishable by a fine not exceeding $100 or by imprisonment for
not exceeding 30 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment for a conviction
of first offense; by a fine of not less than $50 nor more than $200 or by
imprisonment for not exceeding 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment
for conviction of a second offense committed within a period of 18 months;
by a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $500 or by imprisonment for
not exceeding 180 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment for conviction
of a third or subsequent offense committed within a period of 18 months.
The Mayor of the Village of Lake George may authorize the holding of
regattas, boat races, water-ski shows or similar events on any navigable waters,
within the restricted area. He shall adopt and may, from time to time, amend
regulations concerning the safety of vessels and the passengers and other
persons thereon, either observers or participants. Whenever a regatta, boat
race, water-ski show or similar event is proposed to be held on such waters,
the person in charge thereof shall, at least 15 days prior thereto, file an
application with the Mayor for permission to hold such event. The application
shall set forth the date and location where it is proposed to hold such event,
and it shall not be conducted without authorization of the Mayor in writing.
A copy of the regulations adopted pursuant to this section and of any amendments
thereto shall be filed in the office of the Mayor of the Village of Lake George
and in the office of the Department of State. A copy of such regulations shall
be furnished by the Village of Lake George to any person making due application
therefor. Nothing contained herein shall exempt such applicant from complying
with the provisions of § 34 of the Navigation Law of the State of
New York.
