Accessibility and ADA Title II Compliance
General Code is committed to ensuring that all individuals can access the codes and legislative content hosted on our eCode360 platform. This commitment aligns with the principles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II, which prohibits discrimination by state and local governments and mandates equal access to digital services.
Our Accessibility Goals
We are actively working toward full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across the eCode360 platform. These guidelines, developed by the W3C, define how to make web content more accessible to individuals with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

We encourage jurisdictions to review the Accessibility page on General Code’s website for more information and resources

Image & Graphics Audit Tool: Determining image accessibility issues
The Image & Graphics Audit tool helps you identify and address accessibility issues related to images and graphics in your online code.
Images that are missing appropriate text alternatives — or that are not correctly marked as decorative — can create barriers for users who rely on screen readers or other assistive technologies. This audit tool scans your online code for images and graphics that may require accessibility review and guides you through the steps needed to address them.
How to Run an Image & Graphics Audit in eCode360
- Go to Admin > Accessibility.
- In the Image & Graphics Audit section, select Run accessibility audit for images and graphics.
- The audit runs in the background and may take several minutes (or longer for large codes). You may leave the page while the audit is processing.
- When complete, the audit status changes to Ready to answer.
- Select Click to view to begin reviewing and answering the audit questions.
Review and Respond to Audit Questions
- Each image or graphic found in your code is presented as a question.
- For each item, you will indicate whether the image is decorative, requires a short description, needs a longer explanation, should be replaced for legibility, or should remain unchanged.
- Where available, AI generated description suggestions are provided to assist you, but all responses should be reviewed for accuracy and appropriateness.
