The term of office of the Borough Engineer is
three years as per N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.

The offices of Borough Engineer and Alternate
Borough Engineer are hereby established. The term of office of the
Alternate Borough Engineer shall be the same as set for the Borough
Engineer. The Borough may from time to time engage the services of
other licensed professional engineers for specific projects and services
(referred to as "Special Projects Engineer").

The Borough Engineer, Alternate Borough Engineer,
and Special Projects Engineer shall be licensed professional engineers,
as certified by the applicable licensing authorities of the State
of New Jersey. All three engineers are referred to herein sometimes
specifically or collectively by the term "Engineer."

The Borough Engineer, Alternate Engineer and
Special Projects Engineer shall receive such salary and compensation
and additional compensation according to the terms and conditions
of a professional services contract or contracts, as authorized by
resolution of the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Longport
and executed by the Borough and the Engineer.

The Borough Engineer, Alternate Engineer and
Special Projects Engineer shall perform such duties as directed by
the Commissioner in whose department the Engineer is performing engineering
services or by direction of the Board of Commissioners, as the case
may be. Included in the duties that may be assigned to the Engineer
are:
A. Preparation of or causing to be prepared plans, designs
and specifications for public works and improvements undertaken by
the Borough.
B. Provision and maintenance of surveys, maps, plans,
specifications and control records with respect to public works and
facilities owned or operated by the Borough.
C. Provision of technical and engineering advice and
assistance.
D. Maintenance of all papers, documents, memoranda, reports
and other materials relating to the administration of engineering
duties of the Borough Engineer. The Engineer's work product for the
Borough shall be the property of the Borough. Upon the termination
of the Engineer's services with the Borough, the Engineer shall forthwith
surrender to the Borough all property except the files created solely
for the Engineer's sole use for which no payment was made by the Borough.
E. Provision of services to the Tax Assessor to update
the Tax Maps on a current basis.
F. Attendance at all Borough meetings.
G. Provision of planning and general inspection services
when requested.
H. Service as project manager and/or certifying officer
for those projects assigned.
