The Chief of Police, with the approval of the Mayor and Council, shall assign to this Bureau such officers or patrolmen as he may from time to time deem necessary and who shall be compensated in accordance with the existing contractual provisions between P.B.A. Local 80 and the Borough of Totowa and which is restricted to the actual time that said officer serves in the Detective Bureau.

In addition to their obligations as members of the Police Department, it shall be the responsibility of the members of this Bureau to promptly and efficiently handle all cases coming within the scope of their duties of detection and apprehension; to make or cause to be made a proper investigation of all matters assigned to the Bureau and to promptly record the same; to make preparation for and to assist in the prosecution of persons charged with offenses committed in the Borough of Totowa; and to cooperate with law enforcement departments of other governmental agencies.
