The Zoning Appeals Board of the Town of Oakland, hereinafter referred to as the "Board," is hereby created. Its territorial jurisdiction shall extend over the incorporated area of the Town of Oakland.
The powers and authority of said Board shall be in accordance with those set forth in Article 66B of the Maryland Code as now in force or hereafter amended or recodified from time to time.
A. 
The Board shall hold a public hearing for zoning applications as directed.
B. 
If the applicant or his or her designee is not present for the hearing, a decision or hearing shall not be held. The hearing may be rescheduled if for good cause.
A. 
The Board shall consist of five members, each to serve for three years or until his or her successor takes office, except that the terms of members first appointed shall be staggered so that the first member appointed serves for one year, the second member appointed serves for two years, the third member appointed serves for three years, the fourth member appointed serves for one year, and the fifth member appointed serves for two years.
B. 
There shall also be two alternate members, with three-year terms.
C. 
All members of the Board shall reside within the corporate limits of the Town of Oakland.
All members of the Board shall serve with such compensation as the Mayor and Council deem appropriate and may be removed by the Mayor and Council for inefficiency, neglect of duty or malfeasance in office. All members shall be eligible for reappointment.
