This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Village of Pleasantville
Taxicab Law."
The purpose of this chapter is to provide for adequate and proper control
of taxicab service within the Village of Pleasantville, pursuant to the rules
and regulations of the Westchester County Taxi and Limousine Commission (WCTLC).
As used in this chapter, unless the subject matter or context otherwise
requires, the following words shall have the meanings indicated:
OPERATE
The use of one or more taxicabs for hire upon the streets of the
Village of Pleasantville or engaged in the business of using a taxicab which
is at any time used to carry passengers for hire.
STREET
Includes any street, alley, avenue, bridge, lane or public place
in the Village of Pleasantville.
TAXICAB
Includes any motor vehicle engaged in the business of or at any time
used to carry persons for hire, except vehicles subject to the provisions
of the Transportation Corporations Law.
TAXICAB STAND
Includes any place which is exclusively reserved by the Village Board
of Trustees for the use of taxicabs.
A taxicab shall only be regularly operated from an approved taxicab
stand, and, further, no person may regularly keep for hire within the limits
of the Village of Pleasantville any taxicab without having obtained a driver's
permit issued by the Westchester County Taxi and Limousine Commission (WCTLC)
and having the same in force and in effect under the provisions of this chapter.
