A. 
Pursuant to Vehicle and Traffic Law § 1670, the Pleasantville Union Free School District (the "school district"), has adopted Regulation No. 3280-R and related policy governing the operation of motor-driven vehicles on school district property. The school district has requested the Board of Trustees to authorize the Village Police Department to assist the school district in enforcing said regulations.
B. 
The Board of Trustees finds that the health, safety and welfare will be served by adoption of a local law authorizing the Village Police Department to assist the school district in enforcing school district regulations governing the operation of motor-driven vehicles on school district property.
C. 
The Board of Trustees does hereby enact this article to accomplish the aforesaid purposes.
It shall be the duty of the police officers, acting in accordance with procedures established by the Chief of Police, to enter upon the property of the School District for the purpose of enforcing regulations promulgated by the School District which govern the operation of motor-driven vehicles on School District property. Such enforcement shall include the issuance of appearance tickets pursuant to authority set forth in § 150.20(1) of the Criminal Procedures Law and § 10(4)(a) of the Municipal Home Rule Law.
Any person violating any regulations adopted by the School District governing operation of motor-driven vehicles on School District property, including the provisions of Regulation No. 3280-R and related policy, shall, upon conviction, be punishable by a fine not to exceed $250 or by imprisonment for a term not to exceed 15 days, or both.
