No place of business, dwelling, apartment, apartment house or other
place for human occupancy or business occupancy may be occupied when newly
constructed or previously vacated unless the owner or landlord of said property
shall first apply for an occupancy permit, to be issued by the Zoning Officer
of the Township of South Fayette.
An application for the permit referred to in §
177-1 shall be formulated by the proper officials of the Township and in such form the township deems necessary.
No permit shall be issued for occupancy unless the premises shall be
in livable and habitable condition and after having been inspected by such
Township officials as the Board of Commissioners may require from time to
time.
A temporary occupancy permit may be issued by the township for a period
not exceeding six months during alterations to allow partial occupancy of
a building pending its completion, provided that such temporary permit may
require such conditions and safeguards as will protect the safety of the occupants
and the public.

The fee for any occupancy permit shall be as adopted by resolution from
time to time by the Board of Commissioners and on file in the township offices.

Any person, firm, association or corporation violating any of the provisions
of this chapter shall be subject to a fine of not more than $1,000, plus costs
of prosecution and, in default of such fine and costs, to imprisonment in
the county jail for a period not exceeding 30 days. Each day of violation
shall be deemed to be a separate offense under this chapter punishable by
a separate fine and/or period of imprisonment for each day of violation.
