[Amended 11-9-1960 by Ord. No. 465; 11-11-1970 by Ord. No.
600]
Applications for construction permits shall
be filed with the Township Secretary on the form supplied by the Township
and shall be accompanied by three sets of plans and specifications
prepared by a registered professional engineer, setting forth the
location and nature of the work, together with the engineering data
necessary for completion of the work, and shall be verified by an
affidavit made by or on behalf of the owner or owners. A fee of $50
shall accompany each application for a construction permit.
Every application for a construction permit
shall include construction items and quantities of all planned work.
[Amended 11-9-1960 by Ord. No. 456; 1-9-1980 by Ord. No.
692; 7-11-1984 by Ord. No. 725]
Upon approval of the construction application,
plans and specifications by the Township Engineer, he shall issue
a construction permit to the owner of the property. The owner of the
property shall pay the cost of any material tests and shall reimburse
the Township for the necessary inspection at the rate of $30 per hour
or fraction thereof, portal to portal, for each inspection; provided,
however, that if the owner shall retain a registered professional
engineer in private practice to supervise and inspect construction,
who shall file with the Township Engineer a certificate that the construction
has been carried out in compliance with the approved plans and specifications,
the foregoing charges for inspection shall not be made.
The Township Engineer shall be notified 24 hours
in advance of the commencement of any construction operation, such
as grading, sewer installation or paving, in order that provision
may be made for the proper inspection of such construction operation.
Samples of materials and every reasonable facility for ascertaining
whether the work is in conformity with the provisions of this chapter
shall be furnished to the proper officers and employees of the Township
in the same manner as is required of contractors under the terms of
the highway specifications of the Township.
The granting of any permit hereunder shall not
impose upon the Township any obligation whatever to take over any
of the work covered thereby as a public improvement for any purpose
whatever, unless duly approved and accepted by the Board. The Board
shall have no responsibility of any kind with respect to any street,
road, drainage facility or other public improvement, notwithstanding
any use thereof by the public, unless it has been duly approved and
accepted by the Board.
