The Commissioners hereby create the "Public Safety Commission."
A. 
The Public Safety Commission shall consist of 12 members. The Public Safety Commission shall be made up of eight permanent members and four members appointed at large by the Board of Commissioners. The permanent members shall be: the Chief of each of the four fire companies serving the Township; the Chief Executive Officer of the Ambulance Corps serving the Township; the Township Chief of Police; the Emergency Management Director; and the Superintendent of the Parkland School District.
B. 
Any permanent member may designate another officer from his or her agency to attend any Public Safety Commission meeting as his or her designated agent. Should more than one officer from any agency be present at a Public Safety Commission meeting, the highest ranking officer shall serve as the voting member of that agency.
The Public Safety Commission shall function as an advisory body to the Board of Commissioners. The role of the Public Safety Commission shall include:

Suggesting recommendations to the Board of Commissioners concerning the general safety, health, and welfare for the residents of South Whitehall Township.
B. 
Keeping minutes of each monthly meeting, which minutes shall be submitted to the Board of Commissioners.
C. 
Reviewing subdivision plans and providing comments from the Public Safety Commission on public-safety-related matters, such as matters involving fire codes, traffic safety, fire protection, and other matters affecting the health, safety, morals, and general welfare of the residents of South Whitehall Township. The findings of this review shall be prepared and sent to the Board of Commissioners as recommendations.
D. 
Reviewing Fire Department response box changes.
E. 
Reviewing clear sight triangle appeal applications and plans and submitting written recommendations on such applications to the Board of Commissioners.
The Public Safety Commission and/or the Board of Commissioners may adopt bylaws, rules of procedure, and/or other documents setting forth operational matters of the Public Safety Commission by resolution from time to time, so long as such documents are not inconsistent with this article. Any such documents proposed for adoption by the Public Safety Commission shall be subject to approval by the Board of Commissioners prior to taking effect.
Any ordinance, resolution, and/or other regulation of the Township or any parts of ordinances, resolutions, and/or other regulations of the Township in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. All other provisions of ordinances, resolutions, and/or other regulations of the Township shall remain in full force and effect.
This article shall become effective immediately following its adoption by the Board of Commissioners.
