The Town of Wheatland has a recognized and stated goal to preserve and maintain its rural and historic character and supports the Genesee Country Village Museum's mission of historic preservation and stewardship by fostering a deeper understanding of the past and its relevance to the contemporary world. The Town further acknowledges that despite the relocation of the structures to the Historic Village, these structures still achieve the stated goals and are therefore worthy of "historic" designation.
The area in the Genesee Country Village commonly known as the "Historic Village" and as denoted on the map dated 11-12-09 shall be designated as an historic area. Said map will be filed in the Town of Wheatland Clerk's office and can be amended by resolution adopted by the Town Board.
