The Suffolk County Emergency Preparedness Coordination Council
is hereby created to communicate and share Suffolk County's response
plans, inventories of the County's heavy equipment, shelters
and medical supplies, and other pertinent emergency response information
among County departments and with local, state and federal governments;
to outline emergency scenarios and their consequences and develop
potential response plans; to review current policies, laws and intermunicipal
agreements relating to emergency preparedness and make recommendations
to improve the efficiency of such policies; to consider and outline
the role of private-sector businesses in emergency response situations;
to collaborate on grant-seeking efforts; and to provide important
information to the public regarding responses to various emergency
situations.
The Council shall hold regular meetings, at minimum on a quarterly
basis, and the Chairman shall be responsible for scheduling meetings.
The Council, and/or its Chair, should communicate and/or coordinate
with representatives from the following offices and organizations
regularly:
A. The Suffolk County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services Commission;
B. The Suffolk County Regional Emergency Medical Services Council;
C. The Fire Chief's Council of Suffolk County;
D. The Suffolk County Ambulance Chief's Association;
E. The United States Department of Homeland Security;
F. The New York State Governor's office;
G. The New York State Emergency Management Office;
H. The City of New York Mayor's office;
I. The Nassau County Executive's office;
J. The Suffolk County Town Supervisors Association;
K. The Suffolk County Village Officials Association;
L. The Suffolk County School Superintendents Association;
M. The Long Island Railroad;
N. The Long Island Power Authority;
O. The Suffolk County Water Authority;
P. The Long Island Association;
Q. The Long Island Regional Planning Council;
R. The Executive Director of the Suffolk County Red Cross;
S. The Long Island Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster; and
T. Other appropriate agency representatives or government officials.
Clerical services involving the month-to-month operation of
this Council, as well as supplies and postage as necessary, will be
provided by the staff of the County Department of Fire, Rescue and
Emergency Services.
