No person, firm or corporation shall intentionally or accidentally
set off any police and/or fire alarm, including those false alarms
caused by improperly maintained alarm systems, to which the Borough
of Ambridge Police and/or Fire Departments must respond.

When a false alarm occurs, the Ambridge Borough Police Department
and/or the Ambridge Borough Fire Department shall notify the person,
firm or corporation from which the false alarm emanated, or other
person causing said false alarm, that a false alarm charge is due
in the amount set forth herein. Such notice shall be in writing and
mailed to the person, firm or corporation or person causing said false
alarm, at his last known address, by certified mail, return receipt
requested.

The false alarm charge shall be due and payable at the Borough
administration offices in the amount as established from time to time
by resolution of Borough Council, plus costs and expenses incurred
by the Ambridge Borough Police Department and/or the Ambridge Borough
Fire Department, within 72 hours of receipt of the notice.
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provision
of this article, including failure to make payment of the false alarm
charge, shall be, upon conviction thereof, sentenced to pay a fine
of not more than $1,000 plus costs and, in default of payment of said
fine and costs, to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 30 days. Each
day that a violation of this article continues shall constitute a
separate offense.
Notwithstanding the provisions set forth above, no false alarm
charge will be levied and no summary proceeding will be instituted
for the first accidental false alarm of any person, firm or corporation
in any one calendar month. This provision shall not apply to anyone
intentionally setting a false alarm.
