As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
RUBBISH
All papers, pasteboard, rags, mattresses, worn-out furniture, old clothes, old shoes, leather, carpets, broken glass, crockery, bottles, straw, excelsior, floor sweepings, old metal packing boxes and barrels and broken parts thereof, tin cans, Christmas trees, leaves, grass, cuttings, cut or pulled weeds and brush and household refuse generally, exclusive of garbage and ashes.
From and after the passage of this article, it shall be unlawful for the occupiers of dwellings or other buildings to place or accumulate rubbish, as defined in § 230-5 hereof, ashes, fallen trees, bushes or parts thereof, old vehicles and offensive material of any character, including garbage, in dwellings, buildings, streets, lanes, alleys, yards, cellars or vacant ground, being a part of the premises occupied by them or for the owner or agent in charge of such grounds to cause or permit any of said materials to be accumulated therein or thereon, and all such persons shall, within 30 days after the passage of this article, cause any such dwellings, buildings, streets, lanes, alleys, yards, cellars or vacant ground to be cleared of any such materials and thereafter shall keep such dwellings, buildings, streets, lanes, alleys, yards, cellars or vacant ground clear and free from the same.
Any person hereafter placing any of the materials mentioned and defined in §§ 230-5 and 230-6 of this article in any dwelling, building, street, lane, alley, yard, cellar or vacant ground in the Township of Hampton shall be subject to the penalties prescribed in § 230-8 hereof.

Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provision of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $600 plus costs and, in default of payment of said fine and costs, to a term of imprisonment not to exceed 30 days. Each day that a violation continues shall constitute a separate offense.
